Common questions
My building sits on the border of two places. Which page do I use?
Use the city, village or Bronx neighborhood the building actually stands in; your mailing town can differ, and Pelham Manor is a separate village that the Village of Pelham page does not cover. If you are unsure, put the full street address in the form.
Is my Bronx neighborhood missing from the list?
The borough-wide Bronx page applies to every Bronx ZIP code. The neighborhood pages add local detail on buildings, water and enforcement where we have it.
Why does the office to call change from place to place?
Inside the city, housing complaints go to the city's housing agency. In Yonkers, Mount Vernon, Pelham and New Rochelle each local building department has its own contact, so the local page names the right one.
Does the $100 credit apply outside the Bronx too?
Yes. It applies to the first job booked through this site in any of the twelve places listed here. The terms page sets out the conditions.
Which side of the city line
Inside New York City: the Bronx
Housing inspectors score a mold violation by the size of the patch, and every class carries its own deadline. The city also bars an owner, a managing agent and their staff from doing mold work over ten square feet in a building with ten or more apartments, so a state-licensed firm has to.
Past the line: Yonkers, Mount Vernon, Pelham, New Rochelle
The ten-unit bar is a city law, so it stops at the line. Each of these places has its own building department, and the state's two-license rule still applies over ten square feet. Section 933's exemptions still apply here, among them an owner working on their own home, and an owner or managing agent using full-time staff on a building of more than four units, unless they do mold work for the public.
